Trainings: RSVP please!

Hello Art Lit. Volunteer!
Thanks so much for agreeing to help out with Art Lit this year. It has been a few years since this cherished program has been available at Conestoga and we are excited to be bringing it back this year- and we couldn't do it without you!

We will be holding a volunteer orientation and our first training meeting on Tues. Sept. 29th. Two meeting times are available- please try to make it to ONE of them:
9:00am -10:30am
OR
7:00pm -8:30pm
We will be meeting in the class room behind the stage (in the commons area). Please reply to this email to let me know which meeting you will be able to attend.

In the meantime, if you have not already done so, please complete the Beaverton School District required background check by going to following the link: http://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/home/ Click on the black box on the left that says "Volunteer Background Check". It only takes a couple of minutes to complete. New policy this year requires that EVERY volunteer complete this in order to volunteer in the classroom. You will not be able to participate in classroom activities without it.

Daytime Training Tues Sept 29 9:00 am

I have been requested to add a day time option for the training session as well. So I will also have a training on Tues., Sept. 29th at 9:00am. If you will be attending this session please reply to this email.

***IMPORTANT***
If you have not done so already, please follow the link below to complete the volunteer background check application. All volunteers must have completed this prior to volunteering for Art Literacy. It only takes a couple of minutes to complete. Results take 2-3 weeks to process so get it in this week in order to start volunteering in October. If you have previously registered at another school last year, please let me know what school it was with. First Training Meeting - Tuesday Sept 29 7:00 pm

We are SOOO excited to restart art lit at Conestoga, thanks to the Action Counsel! They voted to give us a budget this school year and we are very grateful.

We will be holding our first training and orientation on Tuesday, Sept. 29th at 7:00pm- 8:30pm at CMS in the room behind the stage (Commons Area). We will be going over the program basics as well as the first lesson plan on the Mayans. We will also have the class schedule. Please plan on coming and RSVP via email to either Jennifer Barker or Joanna Wilbur.

We are still actively recruiting other volunteers, so spread the word. Art Lit in middle school is much simpler than in elementary school...a total of three projects, three times a year! You don't have to be artistic (I'm creative in my head, but can't ever make my hands do what the head envisions) or well-versed in art (everything I've learned has been in my art lit training meetings), we just need a warm body, a functioning brain, and a willingness to volunteer your time (we consider it a bonus if you like to be around middle-schoolers).
